Music agency’s talent-scout division hosts an explosive night packed with opportunities for emerging artists to connect with global brands
MassiveMusic invited music lovers to an explosive night of new sounds and positive vibes as the music agency continued its hugely successful MassiveTalent Night series.

Lighting up the stage were a trio of MassiveMusic’s finest artists, handpicked from the music agency’s extensive, non-traditional catalogue; Home for Supper, Marle Thomson, and Woof! Woof! Ridicule each brought their unique flavour to the party.

The audience on the night was treated to an exclusive experience at one of Amsterdam’s most iconic music venues, the Bitterzoet.

“The Bitterzoet is peculiar, unique, and intimate,” explains Casper Nederhand, A&R Manager at MassiveTalent, “exactly the vibe we wanted to convey with this event. It’s not all warm and fuzzy cosiness; our artists inject an almighty jolt of energy, kick-starting the magic that makes these events so special. Marle gave us major goosebumps with her captivating pop allure, Home For Supper tore down the house with their powerful tunes and Woof! Woof! Ridicule’s energy and positive vibes blew everyone’s minds away. I’m so proud of them and they’re just a small taste of the artists in our roster waiting to be discovered!”

Combining pop and rock’n’roll with a smidge of reggae, Home For Supper electrified the party with fistfuls of energy – their signature stubborn riffs, tight drums, and fat basslines had the venue vibrating and belting out the chorus at the top of their lungs.

Marle’s home-grown songs, composed in Amsterdam and sung from the soul, transported listeners to a world where space and time were improvised, creating fresh combinations of beats, loops, keys, guitar and vocals. Her warm and vibrant vocals, elevated by a quirky edge, invoke the mellow sounds of Lianne La Havas, Emily King, Laura Mvula and Sufjan Stevens.

With pumping beats and fat synthesizers, Woof! Woof! Ridicule had the crowd buzzing along to their contagious enthusiasm and playful, catchy bangers. Channelling the relentless energy of Vive La Fete, Moloko and The Ting Tings, the band treated the audience to a multi-sensory feast, immersing them in a custom-made lightshow, whilst also serving up some, let’s just say, unusual synths. Woof! Woof! Ridicule reached for bananas, glasses of beer, and anything that conducted electricity to create their otherworldly synth melodies.

Spearheaded by Casper Nederhand, Lotte Sterk and Tim Preston, MassiveTalent Night was created to bridge the gap between independent musical talent and global brands. For the artists, it’s an amazing opportunity to gain valuable exposure, be discovered, and kick-start their careers, with possibilities for their music to be featured internationally in commercials, games, films, and series.

“For some of our artists, this was the first time they had performed in such an iconic live music venue - and what a successful debut!” explains Lotte, A&R Manager at MassiveMusic. “As an organiser, you can never be sure that everything will go to plan, even if you have all the right ingredients. But thankfully, the enthusiasm of both the artists and the audience, combined with some killer music, made it all work!”

As well making it all work for the audience, MassiveTalent Night proved to be a big hit with the musicians themselves. “What a night!” commented Home For Supper. “The energy at the Bitterzoet was amazing and we got the opportunity to introduce our music to the people of Amsterdam. It was a great venue to play at: the vibe was just as good as the sound. We are very thankful for MassiveTalent and for this opportunity; Massive kudos to Lotte and Casper for organising the whole event!”

Marle adds, "Performing at MassiveTalent Night was an amazing experience. The audience’s enthusiasm was really encouraging. The combination of different artists and sheer variety of musical styles made for an interesting program; it felt like a mini-festival! This event definitely needs to be organised more often!"

"We were really hyped about performing,” comments Woof! Woof! Ridicule, “and it didn’t disappoint! It was the perfect break from a busy month of writing new material and recording our new album.
We couldn’t have asked for a better location and the vibe in the crowd was just unbeatable; we felt really welcome from the start. MassiveMusic always know how to organise a successful and, most of all, fun event! So many of the audience stuck around after the show to tell us how much they’d enjoyed it – which was a great feeling!"

“Seeing everyone having a hell of a night at these MassiveTalent events is a perfect example of creativity meeting halfway, with the artists on one side and the audience on the other,” concludes Hans Brouwer, Founder & CEO at MassiveMusic. “There are millions of possibilities suspended in the air in between, waiting to be seized.”
